CCHL Week 16: Back From Black

What's going wrong with B2W? That's the question that is now buzzing around the Doug.
Buffalo Wild Wings has lost three in a row after a tremendous undefeated run for most of the season.
Following Jack Edward's Teeth threepeat perforrmance at Black Ice, the boys from Cheers defeated B2W 13-11. It was hat trick night at the Doug as hats rained down on the ice all night. Cheers got tricks from Tim "The Timinator" Walsh, Corey "The Cockroach" Laroche, Corey Cotnoir while Kevin "Karate Kid" Karales and Taylor Labell each had tricks for B2W. Jeff "Hurricane" Cain led Cheers with six saves from the D position and Zac "Geisha" Guercia had the other four saves. It should be noted that Cain also won the Vezina trophy at Black Ice, stealing the honors from Peter Tufts of Exeter. B2w missed suspended super sniper Ed "Scissorhands" Caron who is sitting out a two game suspension for not cutting along the dotted lines.
In the offense starved game two last week, Windmill defeated Cimo's 3-1. Craig Carrier scored to put Cimo's up one to nothing as Cimo's set the Mounsey trap and waited for their prey. Windmill was able to wear down the shorthanded Cimo's squad to earn the victory. Gavin "You Betcha" Faretra had a pair of goals and Dan "Ain't" Arndt sealed the deal with an insurance goal. John "King Tut" Tuttle made 64 saves for Cimo's, many were shots from outside the Mounsey trap.

The 2013 Black Ice Pond Hockey Championship was a huge success. The cold weather was perfect for ice conditions. Many thanks to the city workers who prepared the ice for this great event. Many thanks to all the volunteers who put in many hours of service to the weekend's festivities. As always, a tip of the hat to Chris "Brownie" Brown for another spectacular pond hockey extravaganza. I feel sorry for anyone who had to play at the Winnipesaukee tourney. Dude takes your money and says, "there's the lake, go play hockey on it". No ice maintenance of any kind; No boards; No Hobey Sticks; No nothin! We are lucky to have the best pond  hockey tournament on the planet.
It was great to see the White's Park hockey rink finally restored to decent condition. The addition of the liner and the backstop fence was fantastic. Having the youth hockey games was terrific. I'm looking forward to the Concord/Brady game there sometime in the future. By the way; the ice is still in very good condition over at the park. There is some concern however that too many Hobey Sticks are leaving town. The Agawam team has been warned about the "high life". They will show a lot more class next time or else return the Hobey Stick.
